8:10 a.m. update: MORNING ROAD CONDITION UPDATE – 6 a.m.
Interstate condition improves – downed trees hamper snow removal efforts
FREDERICSKSBURG (6 a.m.) – Overnight conditions on the interstate and some primary routes have improved, however, the area has been plagued with falling trees and downed power lines blocking major secondary routes and hampering snow removal efforts.
This morning crews continue to plow on portions of the interstate, primary and major secondary routes. Low volume secondary routes and subdivision streets remain snow and ice covered.
The following conditions are being reported throughout the district.
· Fredericksburg and Caroline County Area: Interstate 95, primary and major secondary routes are reported in minor to moderate condition; low volume secondary routes and subdivision streets are in severe condition.
· Northern Neck Area: Primary routes are moderate and secondary routes are moderate to severe.
· Middle Peninsula Area: Primary routes are moderate and secondary routes are moderate to severe.

Road Condition Definitions
Closed – Roadway is closed; impassable
Severe – Significant accumulations of snow or ice blocking the roadway; conditions are hazardous
Moderate – Snow or ice covering a major portion of the roadway; passable with caution
Minor – Advisory, potential for icy patches or snow on roadway; passable with caution

Northern Neck (Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland, Lancaster); and
Middle Peninsula (King and Queen, Mathews, Gloucester, Middlesex)
