Closings
· Louisa County Government Offices will be closed Monday, February 8, 2010. All non-essential Louisa County government functions including refuse and recycling centers, landfill, the Betty Queen Intergenerational Center and all other non-essential functions and facilities will be closed.
o When extreme weather hits, citizens can call (540) 967-0401 or (866) 325-4131 from any location. Select option 6, Inclement Weather Hotline, to learn if the County government offices will be closed or delayed. Information will also be placed on the County’s website at www.louisacounty.com
· Louisa County Public School division will be closed Monday, February 8, 2010.
· Louisa County General District Court will be closed Monday, February 8, 2010.
· Louisa County Circuit Court will be closed Monday, February 8, 2010.
· Town of Mineral Office and DMV Select will be closed Monday, February 8, 2010.
Current situation in Louisa County
· From 07:30 Friday (2/5) through 15:00 Sunday (2/7), the Louisa County Communications Center answered 1,754 calls for service.
· Power has not yet been restored to Epworth Manor in the Town of Louisa.
o Dominion Power has placed the restoration of electricity to this area of the Town as a priority.
o Emergency personnel continue to remain on standby to transport residents.
· Emergency Shelters
o As of 20:00 today, approximately thirty (38) people are sheltering at the Louisa County Middle School shelter.
o The Lake Anna Rescue shelter, 300 Bumpass Road, Bumpass, remains open.
o Individuals should bring enough items to a shelter to be comfortable for at least 72 hours. These include change of clothing, prescriptions, over-the-counter medication such as Tylenol or Advil, eye glasses, toiletries, and food, snacks and beverages. They should also bring bedding items such as a sheet, blanket and pillow. Pets will not be allowed in the shelters.
o People requiring a ride to one of the shelters can call (540) 967-1234.
· As of 20:30 today, total power outages in the county totaled over 4,600.
o As of 09:30 today, Dominion Virginia Power and electric power cooperatives across Virginia are reporting approximately 140,000 power outages.
