February Winter Storm

Heavy snow and high winds hit Virginia after a historic winter storm on Feb. 5-6 brought record snowfall and hazardous conditions to many parts of Virginia.

12:15 p.m. Update Fairfax Shelters close

Fairfax County’s two emergency warming centers/shelters closed today at noon. The decision was based on actual needs and limited usage; Fairfax County will continue to monitor the situation and assess the needs, as additional snow is predicted this week.

The warming centers/shelters were at Robert E. Lee Recreation Center, Alexandria and Oak Marr Recreation Center, Oakton.
