February Winter Storm

Heavy snow and high winds hit Virginia after a historic winter storm on Feb. 5-6 brought record snowfall and hazardous conditions to many parts of Virginia.

11:42 a.m. Update:

  • The Virginia Emergency Operations Center is continuing to fulfill local government requests for assistance:
    • Fire, emergency medical services and emergency operations center personnel, as well as large-capacity shelter generators, are going to the city of Alexandria
    • Meals are being provided to shelters in Stafford County and the city of Manassas.
    • Staff and equipment to support plowing operations are moving into northwestern Virginia
    • Strategically repositioning other emergency response resources in northern and northwestern Virginia
